This week young staff from different IFES movements across Europe will meet together to be supported and mentored in their ministry.
The concept behind the Young Staff Network (YSN) is that our ministry should flow from our being: understanding who we are, how God has made us, in what ways we are different to others, why we need others, and what God has given us so that we can be a blessing to others. Our goals are:
1. Character development
2. Growth in spiritual disciplines
3. Helping staff to create a learning program
4. Learning leadership and planning skills
5. Learning by doing / reflecting on experiences
The Network is a process, where the learning takes place by creating space and time. During the year we therefore have three network meetings when all participants come together, and will also be involved in planning and organizing some IFES events. The current team has been involved in running the IFES Netherlands student conference ‘Live It’, where they will run different tracks and response groups. Periodic skype meetings with each of the young staff will provide mentoring, shape the individual’s learning process, and give time to reflect on experiences that the staff might have.
On October 29 - November 1, we will finish our first cycle of Young Staff Networks. As this group of 13 people meets for a final session, they will focus on a summary of their learning experiences and how they can set new goals of development.
From October 29 - November 2, we will also start the third round with a new group of young staff. The meeting for the new team of 15 people from 12 different countries will focus on growing in self-awareness and spiritual disciplines, and the idea that ministry should flow from who you are, and who you are is an outcome of relationships.
These Network meetings will take place in Bischofsheim, Germany and staff workers are nominated by the General Secretaries. For more information on the Young Staff Networks, please contact email@example.com
